Come and join our CQC outstanding rated Trust as a Bank Mental Health Support Worker, providing you shift flexibility across our services to fill staffing gaps. Due to the nature of the role, recent experience of working within an acute inpatient mental health hospital or setting is essential.
Working on the bank will allow you to work across our range of mental health and learning disability services. You can choose the location and shift patterns that suit you.
Shifts can become available up to six weeks in advance, as well as at short notice, so you can plan-ahead or pick up a shift on the day through our electronic system or by speaking with our lovely Bank team.

Main duties of the job
What do we need from you?- NVQ level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or,
- Recent experience within an inpatient mental health setting or significant experience within a care setting caring for patients with mental health conditions. Nursing home/care home experience is NOT sufficient for this role.
- Someone used to working independently in a care setting with a minimum level of support
- A minimum of three shifts per month
- Completion and passing of the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) course. This is a five-day course and must be passed to work within our in-patient settings. (please see link)
- Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the Trust.
Successful applicants will be invited to a values based assessment and interview day in Wimborne, Dorset on Thursday 27th February 2025; you will need to be available for the full day if invited.
You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your engagement that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
PMVA is a pre-requisite to working within our mental health inpatient areas.
PMVA certificates will be released on request after Bank workers have completed 25 clinical shifts.

Person specification
Knowledge, skills and training
Essential criteria- NVQ level 2/3 in Care or demonstrable experience in care
- Demontratable evidence of excellent interpersonal communications skills
- Completion of Care Certificate or willingness to work towards a qualification
Job specific experience
Essential criteria- Previous experience of working within a Mental Health environment
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act.
Additional requirements
Essential criteria- Demonstrable skills in written English, adequate to enable the post holder to carry out the role effectively
- A level of fitness and ability to participate and complete PMVA, Breakaway training and Manual Handling (practice and theory).
Business travel
Desirable criteria- Subject to the provisions of the Equality Act, able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business.
