Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow (ST3+) in Haematology Early Phase Clinical Trials from August 2025. The aim of this position is to offer comprehensive specialist training in all aspects of running early phase haematology clinical trials including protocol development, regulatory procedures, associated translational research projects and presentation of research at meetings.
Cancer is a major strategic area of UCLH and UCL with a focus on developing novel pathway-directed therapies. There is an excellent infrastructure allowing clinical trials to be linked with basic science, facilitating targeting of specific molecular abnormalities in cancers with therapeutics.UCL is both an Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre and a Cancer Research UK Centre, and the NIHR UCLH Clinical Research Facility ([...]) is supported by the NIHR and Cancer Research UK. There are close links between the CRF and the UCL Cancer Institute (http://www.ucl.ac.uk/cancer/) providing excellent opportunities for translational research projects linked to drug development.
This full-time, fixed-term post will be for a period of 12 months from August 2025. Eligibility for full GMC Registration is essential and possession of MRCP or equivalent is necessary.

Person specification
Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential criteria- Medical degree
- Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
- GMC registration and entry on the appropriate GMC Specialist Register
- Completed core medial training or equivalent
- Advanced Life Support
- Knowledge of the Clinical Governance framework of the NHS (including Research governance) and understanding of current changes in the organisation and management structures of the NHS. Ability to act within these parameters.
Experience
Essential criteria- Competency in prescribing chemotherapy
- Experience in haematology
- Clinical audit experience
- Undergoing or completed higher specialist training in Haematology or equivalent (eg oncology)
- Experience in early phase clinical Trials
- Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Experience of laboratory research
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria- Ability and commitment to teach in a clinical setting
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload, to delegate responsibility as appropriate and to supervise staff
- Good inter-personal skills with an ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment & on own initiative
- Excellent communication skills/verbal and written.
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Understanding of research methodology
