Your new company

Hays are looking for a skilled and dedicated Fabric Engineer to work with one of our national clients, based in Edinburgh. This role is crucial in ensuring the buildings' infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards, contributing to a safe and comfortable environment for customers, staff, and visitors.

Your new role

You will be joining the on-site trades team working within multiple NHS facilities across Edinburgh on behalf of a FM contractor - please see a brief list of duties below:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the hospital's fabric, including walls, ceilings, floors, and fixtures.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any structural issues or potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to ensure timely and effective resolution of maintenance requests.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of refurbishment and renovation projects.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and hospital policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and repairs.

What you'll need to succeed

Ideally, you will have worked in this type of role before and have a background working within large commercial buildings. The type of work would suit someone with a joinery background who is comfortable doing minor building repairs within the parameters of other trades.

  • Proven experience as a Fabric Engineer or in a similar maintenance role.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, materials, and construction techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to work.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in building maintenance or engineering are desirable.
What you'll get in return

After a successful interview and passing the vetting process, you will be offered a permanent position with one of the largest facilities contractors in the UK. You will receive regular contact from your Hays consultant employees throughout the process and employees of first-class service.
