Domestic Violence Advisor

We are looking to recruit a Domestic Violence Advisor on behalf of our social housing client, on an ongoing, temporary basis with temp to perm potential. This will be a 35 hour per week role, with hybrid working (1/2 days a week in office) and hourly rates up to £18.00 per hour.

Your new role
  • Providing a supportive, responsive and pro-active service to victim survivors of domestic abuse to keep themselves and their children safe
  • Assessing risks and offering immediate crisis intervention & safety planning, signposting to external agencies or making ongoing safeguarding referrals where appropriate/required
  • Provide emotional and practical support & information to victims regarding housing, health, money and criminal justice options and potential outcomes, advocating on their behalf where appropriate
  • Completing referrals to MARAC and participating in the MARAC process
  • Working with a multi-agency approach, in partnership with internal colleagues, Police, Local Authority, Social Services and others
What you'll need to succeed
  • Significant experience of working with victim survivors of Domestic Abuse, and a thorough understanding of the complexities of domestic abuse, the nature of risk along with barriers faced by people facing this
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant legal frameworks relating to the protectin of both adults and children
  • Clear understanding and knowledge of the criminal justice system & legislation relating to domestic abuse, child protection, safeguarding and civil law
  • Awareness of local and national agencies & resources
  • Understanding of the importance of GDPR, confidentiality and safe working practice
