System Modelling Engineer
The System Modelling Engineer’s job will be to create and maintain a system model that documents behaviour and structure, while also augmenting it with simulations of the relevant physical processes to allow for quicker design of mechanical, electrical, and software components.
Requirements
Responsibilities- Build and maintain 1D models of superconducting systems: magnet, cooling interfaces and circuits, amplifiers, protection, and grid power supply
- Design validation and verification scenarios with project members.
- Work with domain experts to develop Systems Engineering Models to facilitate communication and improve knowledge capture.
- Validate 1-D simulation models against real-world data.
- Perform trade studies to allow system-level optimisation.
- Develop scripts and routines to enhance System Modelling tools.
- Work with Software Engineers to develop Hardware-in-the-Loop simulators.
Requirements
Essential- Degree in Physics, Mathematics, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Experience with 1-D modelling tools such as Modelica, Simulink or Amesim
- Experience with Electrical or Thermal simulation.
- Programming/scripting skills in either Matlab, MySQL, or similar
- Postgraduate Degree or practical experience in Systems Engineering, ideally with exposure to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Skills in applying control theory for closed-loop systems
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
- Skills in using Simscape Toolboxes (e.g. Electrical, Fluids, System Composer)
- Experience with an MBSE tool, e.g. Capella, Enterprise Architect, CATIA Magic, other.
- Salary dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed from the outset
