Bruern Abbey School, an independent prep and senior school for boys with dyslexia and other learning differences, would like to recruit an enthusiastic Emotional Literacy Support Assistant. This post is based at the prep school site, in Chesterton.

The successful candidate would be required to teach SEN intervention lessons and provide in class support. Further details are in the job description. A passion for working with pupils with SEN and a willingness to contribute to the extra curriculum program of the school are vital.

About the School

Bruern Abbey is a unique family of two schools that provide specialist education and pastoral support exclusively for boys diagnosed with dyslexia, dyspraxia or other learning difficulties. Owing to the successes of Bruern Abbey Prep School, well-established as the only mainstream prep school in the country that caters exclusively for boys diagnosed with learning difficulties, Bruern Abbey Senior School launched in September 2022 on an impressive site in Chilton, Buckinghamshire, a 20-minute drive from Bruern Abbey Prep School.

There are approximately 150 boys on roll at the prep school prep school, and the senior school has around 80 boys on roll.

  • We have twice as many English and maths lessons as a standard prep school
  • Reading is taught as a distinct curriculum subject
  • Laptops are used in most lessons
  • All classes have a maximum of fourteen pupils – allowing boys more individual attention in class
