Healthcare Assistant - Diabetic Foot Clinic

The Diabetic Foot Clinic treats people with foot disease and wounds as a result of Diabetes. We are a team of Podiatrists and work alongside Consultants, Nurses, Shoe fitter and other health care practitioners. We see patients who have complex foot disease, such as ulceration, poor circulation and nerve damage.
We are an outpatient clinic based at The Elsie Bertram Diabetes Centre and are open Monday- Friday 8am – 6pm.
We are looking for a HCA to join our team of 7 podiatrists and 3 HCAs to help us manage our ever increasing caseload. The post holder will be responsible for working in at team helping the podiatrists deliver care to the patients. The duties will include, getting patients to and from the clinic, dressing removal, assisting with casting, recording patient observations, assisting with footwear/offloading fitting, booking appointments, maintaining the clinical environment and keeping stock maintained.
This role will be at the main NNUH site and occasionally at our satellite clinic at Cromer hospital. We would anticipate the hours being worked over 4 days.

- To accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the Registered AHP who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care.
- To deliver care and carry out duties as specified within the Trusts Approved core task list for Healthcare assistants.
- To report to AHP any patient who gives cause for concern or any observed changes in the patient’s condition.
- To respond appropriately to clinical emergencies to ensure the patient receives appropriate care.
- To participate in the admission process under the supervision of the AHP
- Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised personal nursing care.
- To report all care that has been given to patients within the team to an AHP.
- To accurately document all care delivered to patients, countersigned by a AHP maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- To assist in the preparation of patients and equipment for treatment, investigations or procedures as directed by the AHP.
- To keep the clinical area clean and tidy maintaining a safe environment.
- To adhere to Trust infection control procedures demonstrating an understanding of cross infection.
