Behaviour Support Assistant
We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants with experience in working with children and/or adults who can display challenging behaviour.
The successful candidate will need to have a passion for supporting students’ mental health, and assist with creating a nurturing learning environment. The successful TA will be working closely with staff and students in order to effectively assist and guide students through any challenges they may have.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions for students, focusing on ces, emotionoping strategial regulation, and self-care techniques.
- Assist in the development and implementation of education plans for students with mental health concerns.
- Monitor students' progress and communicate effectively with teachers regarding this.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safeguarding laws and regulations.
- Support teacher in managing the behaviour and specialist needs of the young people.
Qualifications:
- Team Teach trained, or willing to partake in a 2 day Team Teach training course.
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting. We will also consider those with experience supporting adults with similar needs.
- Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health support for students.
- Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of child safeguarding and ability to respond to such concerns effectively and efficiently.
School staff will be working term time, from 08:30 – 15:30. This role will involve working with young people of Primary and/or Secondary ages.
