The Radiology team at the Westmoreland General Hospital (WGH) have an exciting opportunity for part time or full time trained Radiographers to join our team working in the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and also in general Radiography.
Suitable applicants must be patient centred, caring and professional with recent Cath Lab experience or a willingness to train in Cath Lab, a Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography and be registered with the HCPC.
Main duties of the job
WGH is on the doorstep to the Lake District, the Trust is set in some of the most remarkable surroundings in the UK, facilitating an abundance of outdoor activities. There are many OFSTED “Good” and “Outstanding” state primary schools which feed into excellent secondary schools.There are Boys and Girls grammar schools at nearby Lancaster which consistently rank in the top 5 in the North West as well as Lancaster University, ranked the best in the North West and 8th in the Country. The M6 and rail network provide easy access to Manchester and other city centres.
Working within the Radiology department at the WGH provides opportunities to gain excellent experience in a wide range of imaging procedures. The Cath Lab department is equipped with a Philips Allura XPER FD10, performing angiography and pacemaker insertion.The Radiology department is equipped with Sectra PACS and RIS.
Working for our organisation
The Trust operates from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Experience
Essential criteria- Experience in a wide range of radiographic techniques with a range of equipment
- Experience in specialist procedures including Cath Lab or willingness to train
- Experience of PACS and RIS systems
- Mentoring students
- Assisting in the mentoring of newly qualified and junior staff.
Education and qualifications
Essential criteria- DCR or BSc Radiography
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of CPD
