The Opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our animal welfare team to work on a project investigating welfare in racehorses. The post will require the use of behavioural assessment techniques on commercial racing yards, and engagement with a variety of stakeholders working in racing.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
Your skills and attributes for success:
A PhD in a relevant topic, or nearing completion (e.g. veterinary medicine, animal behaviour, animal science)Experience of working with large animals, preferably horses
Some understanding or knowledge of the UK racing industry and a willingness to work in this environment
Previous experience of working with diverse stakeholder groups
Some previous experience of research in animal behaviour or welfare would be an advantage
