Mortgage Assessor/Trainee Underwriter

- Job Title/Location: Mortgage Assessor/Trainee Underwriter, Surrey/WFH
- Salary: To £35k + bonus + pension + free parking + study support
- Office/WFH: Office based 1 day per week, the rest is WFH. Initial 6-week training period is fully office based
- Requirements: Solid mortgage admin/processing experience or some previous experience within mortgage underwriting - this must include exposure to residential mortgages
- Role Snapshot: Processing and administering loan applications from initial acceptance to the checking of the advance release and mortgage offer approval
The Company: Our client is a highly professional Financial Services company who base their customer services model on first rate customer service as opposed to the hard sell. An office of around 225 people that has doubled in size in recent years and this expansion is continuing through 2024 and into 2025.
The Role: In this Mortgage Assessor/Trainee Underwriter role, you will be responsible for the processing and administration of mortgage applications, from initial acceptance to the checking of the release of the advance cheque. The main tasks will include:
- Assess loan applications to ensure completeness of documentation and on introduced cases, liaise with Intermediary’s/BDM’s to procure the submission of omitted items.
- Undertake appraisal of applications received and submit recommendations as to underwriting checks to be undertaken to either the Assistant Manager or Head of Underwriting.
- Case ownership from application through to offer. Drive application to offer times by tracking the mortgage pipeline within the SLA.
- Produce Loan Offers for submission to and approval by the Senior Loans Processor and Loans Underwriting Assistant Manager/Manager.
- Despatch Mortgage Offers and Solicitors Instructions following approval.
- Produce case completion details for onward transmission to the Mortgage Admin Team.
Skills / Experience Required: For this Mortgage Assessor/Trainee Underwriter role our client requires either previous mortgage admin/processing experience or a background in residential mortgage underwriting. Once training is complete, you must be able to work from their Surrey office 1-day per week.
