Clinical Manager - CYP Speech & Language Therapy

We are looking for a forward thinking, dynamic, compassionate AHP to join our leadership team with a professional qualification and HCPC registration in Speech and Language Therapy.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will
Be accountable for ensuring the direct delivery of high-quality person-centred services which always considers people’s safety, privacy and dignity.
Provide leadership and clinical management to team leaders and highly specialist practitioners in the CYP SALT Service
Act as a champion for clinical standards and for continuous improvement in the service user experience, providing assurance that standards meet all contractual requirements.
Ensure the delivery of up to date evidence based practice.
Lead as a driver for change, contributing to the planning and design of services in line with Trust, locality, specialist services and government business and strategic plans and objectives to meet the needs of local people.
The post holder will be clinically accountable for the direct delivery of the CYP SALT Service within the directorate team and will draw on the clinical experience of earlier career roles in assisting others in their delivery of direct patient care.
Recognise that all roles should work toward the improvement of patient care regardless of their direct contact. In this role, such contact will naturally be limited but will draw on the experience of earlier career roles in assisting others with patient and client care, some times in the context of resolving complaints and concerns.

Person specification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING
Essential criteria- Registered Speech and Language Therapist and professional registration with RCSLT and HCPC
- Relevant full Masters degree or demonstrable extensive equivalent experience in the relevant specialty.
JOB SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria- Evidence of experience in effective leadership and risk management
- Experience of complex service delivery including multi agency working.
- Experience of working at strategic level
- Evidence of involvement in policy and practice change
- Able to analyse performance, competing perspectives and priorities in the delivery of health and support service improvement.
- Experience of joint working with colleagues in a matrix involvement approach.
MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria- Experience of operational management or senior management in a at Band 7 or equivalent or above in health or social care
- Proven track record of success in managing teams, individual and team performance; management of absence, and workforce planning
FINANCE/RESOURCES
Essential criteria- Experience of budget management
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY/RESOURCES
Essential criteria- Able to manipulate data, service and performance related to design written and visual information, e.g. complex papers and reports.
PERSONAL QUALITIES/ATTRIBUTES
Essential criteria- Able to communicate effectively at different levels of the organisation in both written form and in small and large groups together with ability to motivate and persuade individuals and teams, particularly in areas of service and performance improvement requiring a collaborative commitment to change and across organisations, external agencies and all sectors of the community to enable effective relationships
- Evidence of skills in diplomacy, negotiation and influencing and the ability to deal appropriately and professionally with challenge.
