To provide the social care needs of CAMHS in-patient service users as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, in conditions of a general adolescent Mental Health Unit.

The successful candidate will join the already established Senior Social Worker on the unit and work closely with them on the unit.

CAMHS inpatient experience is desirable but other forms of experience can be considered.

The role will be within the CAMHS inpatient service. We therefore require a person who has a sound knowledge base of the relevant legislation and underpinning guidance that helps us to support and improve well-being in children and young people.

As part of the social work team the postholder will work within an MDT where the social work responsibilities are key in promoting well-being and supporting discharge planning through having an excellent ability to undertake robust social care assessments that feed into CPA and children's social care.

that affords children and young people the best opportunities that are available to them.

An interest in this service user group is essential so as to develop positive working

relationships with both service users, colleagues and families and carers. The role will be challenging so an ability to work as a team is important to strive to achieve the best outcomes possible for children and young people. The postholder will also need the ability to challenge others so an ability to demonstrate this professionally is essential.

The postholder will hold a complex caseload with core tasks associated to that caseload.
Responsible for own time management, be able to accurately record interventions and have
the opportunity to work in a diverse and interesting service area.
Have a good understanding of the safeguarding needs of children and young people and be
able to address concerns through utilising the appropriate policies and procedures, highlighting where necessary lack of intervention.
Maintain a sound knowledge base relating to the Children Act 1989 whereby the wishes and
feelings of a child or young person are fully considered in any decisions made about them.
Maintain a sound knowledge of The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
which provides us with a legally binding international agreement that clearly sets out the civil, AFC 12/7/23 JME-158-23 Social Worker CAMHS Band 5
political, economic, social and cultural rights of every child regardless of race, religion and
abilities.
Maintain a sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007) and be able
to dovetail the relationship with the relevant legislation and guiding principles when working

with children and young people.
