Job overview

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Microbiology department for a fixed term (1 year), part time Medical Secretary 22.5 hours based at the Royal Gwent Hospital. We are looking for a team player who enjoys a variation of administrative duties with attention to detail and who can be deadline driven in a pressured environment.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Working within Microbiology, providing high quality administrative and secretarial support to both the clinical and the laboratory teams in a timely manner. Administration and secretarial support will enable the smooth running of the department on a day-to-day basis.

To liaise with a wide variety of service users and staff to give information and/or signpost them to the most appropriate member of staff. Co-ordinate Health Protection activities for the department.

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.
