As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in our Rapid Diagnostic Clinic (RDC), you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care for those referred to our service. You'll work directly with patients, coordinating their diagnostic journeys across departments to ensure timely, accurate diagnoses.This position allows you to exercise advanced clinical decision-making, bridging care between primary and secondary services, and supporting patients through each step of the process.
You’ll be an essential part of the RDC team, collaborating with GPs and specialists to create a seamless diagnostic experience. Job Responsibilities:- Clinical Expertise & Patient Care: Lead patient assessments and manage a caseload through nurse-led clinics. Communicate results and guide patients in decision-making. Deliver oncological support, including breaking bad news, and assess patient needs for immediate care.
- Team Collaboration & Leadership: Participate in MDT meetings, consult with GPs, and act as a primary contact within the RDC clinic. Provide clinical support across departments, referring patients as needed and tracking diagnostic pathways.
- Protocol Development & Service Improvement: Develop clinical protocols with Consultant Leads, enhance RDC services, and lead quality improvement initiatives. Act as a liaison across teams to improve healthcare delivery and reduce patient stay lengths.
- Education & Training: Mentor and educate junior staff and healthcare professionals. Develop training materials and patient-friendly information. Engage in educational programs focused on cancer and palliative care.
- Research & Development: Conduct audits, report on service performance, and contribute to patient pathway development. Publish research and participate in conferences. Collaborate on policy development for the RDC model.
