An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Dietitian to work within the specialist Tier 3 Weight Management Service in North Cumbria. The post holder will be a key member of the specialist multi-disciplinary team and provide a clinical dietetic service to patient’s both individually and in a group setting.

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Dietitian with excellent communication and team working skills. Experience of MDT working is essential and working within weight management and diabetes is desirable. You would be expected to input into the bi-weekly MDT and provide nutritional education to the core patient group as well as see patients for individual intervention where appropriate.

You will join a physiotherapist, dietitian, rehab assistant, psychology team and endocrinology consultant as part of the wider tier 3 MDT.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide a comprehensive clinical and educational dietetic service within the North Cumbria Tier 3 Weight management Service in North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC).
  • To work with other professionals in the Multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide a screening and case management service that identifies, with eligible service users, the best weight management journey for them and continues for up to 12 months as needed.
  • To act as a specialist source of advice and expertise, in the nutritional management of patients with obesity and complex needs.
  • To contribute to the specialist interventions (e.g. behavioural, dietetic, pharmacological etc.) to support weight management, meet client needs and achieve service outcomes.
  • To work with statutory services to support eligible service users into existing community and voluntary sector support for diet, lifestyle, and physical activity.
  • To contribute to a service that is equitable and accessible by clients who wish to access it.
  • To contribute to the provision of robust quality assurance systems at all levels of the Service.
  • To promote the Service, motivating eligible patients to consider weight-loss and access the Service

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • To hold a Degree in Dietetics or equivalent
  • To be registered as a Dietitian and fit to practice by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • To be committed to continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Behaviour change training
  • Leadership training
  • Clinical supervisory skills training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post graduate work experience in dietetics
  • Knowledge of relevant national guidelines and standards
  • Evidence of audit and participation in service development
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Can demonstrate relevant/varied post graduate experience across a variety of clinical areas
Desirable criteria
  • Membership of: British Dietetic Association (BDA), DOM UK, Other relevant groups
  • Experience treating patients within Weight Management Services and Diabetes.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Broad range of evidence based clinical assessment and treatment skills based on current best practice
  • Demonstrates an ability to comprehend and work within policies on health and safety, risk management and data protection
  • Working knowledge of current NHS issues
