Overall purpose of the job

To assist the Facilities and Maintenance manager with the maintenance and servicing of all equipment and premises across all Jimmy’s sites.

Working hours

The post-holder will work 36 hours per week. The post holder can work flexibly between the hours of 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday subject to agreement with the line manager.

Main duties
  • To ensure that properties are secure and well kept (gardens, fencing etc) across all sites including CCTV, door systems etc.
  • To respond to jobs posted on the maintenance log
  • To plan and coordinate regular servicing and Health and Safety checks with external agencies (emergency lighting, fire risk assessments etc) and ensure up to date certification is stored centrally
  • To maintain light fittings and to test lighting systems weekly replacing where necessary minor parts such as tubes, bulbs, fuses starters and diffusers, in accordance with safe working practices.
  • To address issues of blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets, drains, kitchen grease traps etc. promptly.
  • To monitor disposal of waste materials in a safe, hygienic manner ensuring that it is available for collection as required and ensuring waste transfer notes etc are filed centrally
  • Check fire exits are clear and safe on a daily basis
  • To assist and deputise for the maintenance manager where required across all sites
  • To be designated driver for the Jimmys vehicle for collections etc.
  • To perform basic electrical, carpentry and plumbing repairs
Storage
  • To oversee premises storage, maintenance and household supplies.
  • To oversee the handling and storage of non-food donations.
Caretaking at Jimmy’s Premises
  • At all times, ensure the smooth running of Jimmy’s, with particular regard for the safety and welfare of all residents, staff, volunteers and visitors.
  • To maintain the fabric of the property through routine building inspections
  • To Identify and report and perform maintenance and repair items.
  • To conduct and manage change to the physical environment and layout as required.
  • To comply with the requirements of Health and Safety, other relevant legislation and Jimmys policies.
  • To maintain PAT testing of equipment
  • To ensure legionella testing is carried out monthly.
  • Basic painting and decorating across all sites
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL STAFF
  • Attend to administrative duties related to the post.
  • Other duties as reasonably required, as Jimmy’s develops and/or the role requirements change
  • Take responsibility for personal training and development, and attend appropriate supervision & training sessions.
  • At all times have a strong awareness and understanding of Jimmy’s policies, including: health & safety, equal opportunities, diversity & inclusion, safeguarding, data processing and volunteering.
  • Communication and liaison with staff, volunteers and external agencies and funders as required
