Environmental Manager

Location Birmingham Site with Hybrid Working

Salary £ 55 000 - £ 65 000 plus car allowance and package

Summary

A leading tier 1 contractor in the civil engineering and infrastructure sectors is seeking an Environmental Manager to oversee a number of projects in the northern region

Based out of their offices in the Midlands the Environmental Manager will be responsible for taking the lead in creating a culture of best practice environmental performance and excellent standards across multiple projects

The projects are typically city centre regeneration schemes or junction improvements with values of £ 2m-£ 10m across our Midlands region

Duties
  • Initiate and maintain systems to review and monitor compliance with BS EN ISO 14001 and other company divisional standards
  • Manage and oversee monitoring equipment collect process and interpret data (e g water dust noise waste)
  • Manage onsite Environmental Site inspections highlighting any bad and good practice to the relevant teams and Senior Management
  • Ensure that the Project Environmental Management System is implemented and operated on site through a programme of checking and auditing
  • Record and report all incidents to all relevant parties and instigate any corrective actions required
  • Prepare monthly environmental reports for the project including completion of company client and divisional reporting systems data systems
  • Regularly report progress (including achievements) against environmental compliance and environmental targets to the whole team
  • Develop robust and comprehensive mitigation measures to deal with environmental risks working collaboratively with the production team
  • Produce review and update the Project Environmental Management Plan - EMP (and associated plans) on a regular basis
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives to ensure
  • collaborative working relationships
Person Specification
  • Significant experience with either a consulting engineer civil engineering contractor or a specialist environmental contractor
  • Hold Bachelor s degree MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental discipline
  • Broad knowledge of all aspects of environmental design and works and impacts on 3rd Parties
  • Knowledge of relevant UK Environment legislation and current best practice guidance
  • Member of IEMA Ideally chartered or working towards chartered status
