As part of our transformation of our Cancer services at ESNEFT we have a new opportunity to join our Acute Oncology Service. We are looking for a qualified, experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner to work across Colchester and Ipswich Hospital.

This exciting opportunity facilitates working within the four pillars of advanced practice: education, clinical practice, leadership and research.

Our Acute Oncology Service provides specialist advice for the diagnosis, management, treatment and ongoing care of cancer patients presenting with acute symptoms from cancer and its related treatments.

The role involves working as part of and leading an enthusiastic dedicated team to ensure patients receive prompt assessment, advice and guidance and early access to secondary care services if needed. You will have the opportunity to contribute to further development of a well-established and successful service with new innovative ideas.

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) will use a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making alongside demonstrating the four pillars of practice, Clinical Practice, Leadership and Management, Education and Research in providing healthcare that enables innovative solutions to enhance experience and improve outcomes within their speciality area.
The ANP is accountable for independent clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment within an agreed scope of practice. In addition to this the ANP is also responsible for appropriately referring patients to relevant specialities for any necessary inpatient or outpatient investigations as well as facilitating safe patient discharge.

Within the speciality of cancer care and management, the advanced practitioner will demonstrate the core cancer capabilities in practice (CiPs) as set out in the Aspirant Cancer Career and Educational Development (ACCEND) programme to develop a scope of practice that enables the practitioner to safely and effectively assess, plan and manage personalised care, and beyond this to influence, lead and manage change to improve cancer care and services.
