Salary: £22,996 to £25,068 actual annual salary (dependent on experience and qualifications)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people aged 5–19 with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and associated learning needs.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and development within a safe and positive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils with learning activities and personal care needs where required
  • Encouraging independence and promoting positive behaviour
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Adapting your support to meet individual pupil needs
  • Helping create a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic
  • Flexible and adaptable in their approach
  • Passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
Essential Requirements
  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C / Level 3 or above)
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (paid or voluntary)
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Desirable
  • Level 2 or above qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • Knowledge of SEN, SEMH, or ASD
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Safeguarding

Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Applicants will be required to declare all convictions and cautions unless protected under DBS filtering rules.
