Our services also play a crucial role in cancer screening programmes.

Your Role: As an Advanced Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will support our registered Biomedical Scientists and be an integral part of our team. Your primary focus will be on the implementation of Digital Pathology, a cutting-edge technology that enhances our diagnostic capabilities.

Contractual Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Full time working hours (37.5 hours per week) working 5 out of 7 days

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Basic Medical Terminology

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Min. 4 GCSE or equivalent to grade C or above
Desirable criteria
  • IT Qualification

Skills/Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Data input skills
  • High levels of accuracy
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to contribute to effective team working
  • Ability to organise own work to meet required deadlines

Further Training

Essential criteria
  • NVQ 2 (clinical lab support)
Desirable criteria
  • Internal Training and experience For Cellular pathology techniques (Equivalent to NVQ 3)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as MLA in a Histopathology Department
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of scientific terminology
  • Previous tissue embedding or section cutting (microtomy) skills
