Training Coordinator - Children's Community Nursing Team

The Children's Community Nursing Team (KITE Team) are seeking a Registered Children's Nurse to join their team as a Training Coordinator.
As a team we aim to holistically support and empower children, families and other carers to have the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for their complex medical health needs in all community settings.
The post will be based at the Royal Derby Hospital with some time spent at Chesterfield Royal Hospital (Derbyshire Community Nursing Training Team base) and will involve travel throughout the county to care settings and training venues.
The role primarily involves delivering training sessions to carers to enable them to care for children and young people with complex health needs in community settings such as schools and respite centres. The training coordinator will then provide follow up visits to observe competency achievement and deliver yearly updates.
Therefore, we are looking for an organised individual who is confident in delivering presentations and practical demonstrations. They should have good knowledge of epilepsy, enteral feeding and respiratory care and have excellent clinical skills in these areas.They should also demonstrate clear, concise and accurate documentation as well as effective communication skills.

Management and delivery of training sessions as part of the Derbyshire Community Nursing Training Team.
Training sessions currently include enteral feeding (nasogastric, gastrostomy), respiratory care (oxygen, suction, nebuliser administration and tracheostomy care), epilepsy management (including administration of rescue medication) and safe and accurate medicines administration.
Coordinating and delivering 'sign off' sessions to enable carers to demonstrate practical skills under supervision.
Ensuring training presentations and paperwork are updated accordingly.
Troubleshooting any issues raised during training, which may involve liaison with parents, specialist nurses, hospital consultants and community nursing teams.
