Your Role Post: Highly Specialist (Band 7) Occupational Therapist Service Line: Mental Health Forensic (Low and Medium Secure Services) Base: Hudson Hospital Cygnet Bury, Grtr Manchester, Clinical: You would be responsible for the assessment and treatment of occupational dysfunction for 13 service users on a medium secure forensic ward, specialising in the care and treatment of people with personality disorder and mental illness diagnoses.

You will work with a full multidisciplinary team in a coordinated way to support each service user develop their skills, and move through our clinical model of care from admission to discharge. Leadership: You would report directly to the Head Occupational Therapist for the Hudson Hospital, Cygnet Bury, within the Secure Service line.
You would hold delegated leadership and management responsibilities for the Occupational Therapy service, providing clinical supervision for junior qualified occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants. You will be required to share leadership responsibility and consistently contribute to the Hospital wide Occupational Therapy provision across the 6 wards within the Hudson Hospital.
You may also be required at times to deputise for the Head Occupational Therapist. Our secure services at Hudson Hospital, Cygnet Bury, are therapy and recovery focused, providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for men. The aim is to effectively progress service users though the secure care pathway, into the least restrictive environment possible while working to reduce the possibility of readmission back into secure care.
Occupational Therapy Directorate Under the leadership of our Occupational Therapy Directors we support over 160 Occupational Therapists. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
The Occupational Therapy service offers career development for staff through a comprehensive package of available in house training. This includes: Sensory Integration Preceptorship, VdT Model of Creative Ability Preceptorship, Packages of Training to learn and apply tools within the Model of Human Occupation and Group Therapy Practice Training.
Every service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to lead and develop evidence based practice and an agreed occupational therapy pathway. We ensure our occupational therapists have a voice through participating in service model development, utilising the expertise and support of our clinical lead occupational therapists.
