Solicitor - EL/PL & RTA

Our General Insurance team at DWF provides expertise in Casualty, Disease, Criminal Defence, EL/PL & RTA and is currently seeking a Junior Solicitor, Solicitor or Senior Paralegal to handle a varied caseload of litigated personal injury defender cases, under the supervision of Lynne Macfarlane, Partner and Solicitor Advocate.
We are looking for a Junior Solicitor, or experienced Paralegal, with experience of dealing with personal injury litigation, preferably in defender but we will also consider pursuer experience for the right candidate.
The main priority is to find someone who can deal with a mixed defender caseload comprising motor, employers liability (EL) and public liability (PL) cases, raised at summary cause, ordinary sheriff court and Court of Session level. Skill required is to review evidence and quickly progress the case to the end point, either settlement or proof, in line with client service level agreements.
Responsibilities:
As a Junior Solicitor, or experienced Paralegal in our General Insurance team, you will engage in a wide range of activities, such as:
- Working with partners to manage a caseload of high value claims, compromising of a variety of defender EL/PL & RTA matters.
- Drafting pleadings, reports to clients, attending court hearings, working to court deadlines, progressing liability investigations, gathering evidence, instructing experts and considering interesting medical causation issues.
- Prioritise work effectively and to maximise efficiency in working practices, adhering to court deadlines and directions, as well as the client's service level agreements.
- Build working relationships internally and externally in order to develop business networks and create a solid understanding of the Firm’s directions and client needs.
What will help you succeed in this role? :
Desirable Criteria:
- 1 years PQE, preferable within Casualty, Disease, EL/PL, RTA or personal and serious injury.
- We will also consider NQ’s with an interest and experience in these areas.
- Technically experienced in and a real interest in Employers Liability, Public Liability, RTA and catastrophic injury work.
- Experience in handling high value defender personal injury files either in your own right, or as an assistant to more senior team members.
- Familiar with working in a commercial environment.
