Are you a skilled civil engineer ready to take the next step in your career? Do you have experience with Eurocodes, reinforced concrete design, and Health and Safety regulations, along with the ability to lead complex projects? If so, come and join EDF as a Civil Team Lead!

The Opportunity

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project.

As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E’s integrated teams.

As the Sizewell C (SZC) Civil Team Lead for N3 buildings, you’ll oversee civil engineering activities related to the design and delivery of buildings under the guidance of the SZC NI senior architect. You’ll ensure quality, schedule, and cost targets are met for your technical scope.

Leading a team of building and technical leads, you’ll manage interfaces with internal and external stakeholders across technical and commercial aspects of the project. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex civil engineering projects, ensuring successful outcomes and fostering strong stakeholder collaboration.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a salary from £66,000 to £76,000 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort.

No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed.

That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

The Civil Team Lead is a delivery role focused on managing cross-functional civil engineering activities and resolving complex technical issues for the SZC project. You’ll support the design replication from Hinkley Point C to Sizewell C, ensuring technical input is collected and design phases are well-coordinated.

This includes overseeing procurement discussions, managing design reviews, and resolving open technical points to keep the project on schedule and within budget.

You’ll work closely with other civil leads, layout teams, and external stakeholders such as designers and suppliers to ensure smooth collaboration. A key part of your role is managing design deliverables, coordinating updates to essential documents, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.

You’ll also lead the review and acceptance of design outputs, contributing to progress reporting and mitigating risks.

In addition to technical leadership, you’ll manage team resources, distribute tasks, and create a productive working environment aligned with nuclear safety standards. By promoting collaboration, identifying risks and opportunities, and sharing lessons learned, you’ll help drive the successful delivery of high-quality civil design projects.

Who you are

You’ll have solid experience in Eurocodes, reinforced concrete design, and Health and Safety regulations, enabling you to deliver complex projects with a strong focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery. Your communication skills and collaborative approach will help you build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth project coordination.

With a delivery-focused mindset, you’ll excel at managing commitments and meeting deadlines while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. As a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, you’ll contribute to a supportive and productive team environment.

Your ability to lead by example and uphold best practices will be key to driving successful outcomes and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
