Science Technician
We are looking for a motivated and methodical individual to join our Science Faculty as a Science Technician.
You will bring practical experience in a similar role and demonstrate a strong understanding of scientific methods, techniques, and safety procedures. A qualification such as NVQ2 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities or an equivalent is desirable, though not essential.
You will be confident in supporting both staff and students during practical lessons, demonstrating equipment, preparing materials, and ensuring experiments run smoothly. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential.A keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a calm, supportive demeanour when working with students are all crucial to success in this role.

Working hours: 37 hours per week, 39.2 weeks, Term Time Only.
About Us
Following on from 10 years as a specialist Technology College, de Ferrers became an Academy in January 2011. It has grown into a large, split-site, co-educational institution catering for the full range of students from ages 11 to 18. In 2015, de Ferrers became the first school of Affinity Learning Partnership (a Multi Academy Trust).
Excellent funding has allowed the Academy to enhance resources and equipment and widely promote the use of new technologies. There are digital projectors and flat-screen TVs in all curriculum areas, with over 500 computers and laptops across all sites.
From October 2012, the Academy became the first school in Staffordshire to provide all sixth form students with access to a personal one-to-one iPad for use in lessons and at home. Currently, all students in Years 9 to 13 (Trent and Sixth Form Campuses) have their own iPad, as well as all teaching staff and most support staff.
