Location: Whitfield, Kent
Salary: £24,000

Hours: Full-time – Monday to Friday – 9.00-5.00

The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Claims Handler to support the delivery of the Agency’s strategy by effectively managing the customer claims process in a way that provides excellent customer service and appropriate and compliant application of policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Effective management of processing claims within our delegated authority from end-to-end ensuring that each step is managed efficiently and appropriately, in line with policies and procedures.
  • Obtain sufficient information from customers to intimate claims and assess appropriate claims route, ensuring appropriate records are kept of the assessment.
  • Where within delegated authority, manage claims from intimation to settlement including confirming cover, appointing suppliers and loss adjustors as required, keeping the customer informed and reaching satisfactory settlement.
  • Where outside delegated authority, intimate the claim and provide sufficient information to the Claims Team to proceed, appoint suppliers and loss adjustors as required and ensure the customer is kept informed and that the claim proceeds efficiently.
  • Ensure all records of the process are kept up to date, effectively utilising the relevant systems and databases currently in place.
  • Consistently provide excellent levels of customer service in all interactions with potential and existing customers, delivering on promises, meeting their needs and exceeding expectations.
  • Always demonstrate high values of trust and integrity, acting as a positive role model in line with the values and ethos of the Agency.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in a way which complies with relevant external legislation and regulation, compliance and other procedures and local Agency policies and processes.
  • Deliver ad-hoc projects and/or other duties as required, to support the delivery of business strategy and enhance customer experience.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Proven track record in delivering excellent customer service
  • Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills especially Microsoft Office and the ability to effectively use NFU Mutual systems
  • Good maths and problem solving skills
  • Able to manage own workload and able to work effectively under pressure
  • Great team working and ability to build effective relationships through positive behaviours, honesty and integrity.
  • Focus on continuous improvement, able to use own initiative
  • Own transport and full UK driving licence
