Year 6 SEN Teacher - Step Teachers
This role begins April 2025.
Duties as a Year 6 SEN Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet the individual needs of SEN pupils
- Provide targeted support to help students develop confidence, independence, and key skills
- Use a range of teaching strategies to support students with a variety of learning difficulties, including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, and speech and language needs
- Assess and monitor student progress, implementing personalised learning plans where necessary
- Work closely with SENCOs, teaching assistants, parents, and external professionals to provide a holistic approach to learning
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported
Ideal Year 6 SEN Teacher:
- A degree in Education, Special Educational Needs, or a related subject
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS)
- Experience working with SEN pupils, preferably in a primary school setting
- Knowledge of strategies and interventions to support pupils with additional needs
- Strong classroom management, patience, and excellent communication skills as a Year 6 SEN Teacher.
- A passion for making a difference in the lives of children with SEN
