Job overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to become member's of our Outpatient Reception team.
We are currently recruiting to the below position:
- 15 hours per week; Thursday & Friday, 8.30am - 5pm (An 8am start will be required on a rota basis)
- This post will involve working across the four Outpatient Reception
clerical duties under the supervision of the outpatient reception team leader.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work under the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Trust, with the post being located at Bristol Dental Hospital. The post holder be responsible for providing a welcoming and efficient service as the patient’s first point of contact within the hospital.This will include greeting and signposting patients and relatives, processing patients appointments using the Patient Administration System (Careflow) and liaising with clinicians and colleagues to facilitate a smooth and timely flow of patients through the departments.
Manage patient communications via telephone and Trust systems.
Work within the wider reception team to complete all administrative duties.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria- Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria- Previous receptionist experience in a healthcare or public setting
- Previous NHS experience
- Clerical/administration experience including filing and/or reception
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria- Professional manner and excellent customer service
- Flexible approach to duties
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy
- Proven good organisational skills
- Good IT skills including Microsoft packages
- Confidence to handle difficult conversations with patients, relatives and carers
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work effectively in a busy team, adjust to change and motivate others
