Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School – High Peak

Location: High Peak
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £89 - £95 per day

Contract Type: Full-time, long-term

A friendly and inclusive secondary school in the High Peak area is looking for a nurturing and reliable Learning Support Assistant to join their SEN department. You will support a range of students across Year 7 to Year 11, many with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), in both classroom and small group settings.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to pupils with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and speech/language difficulties.
  • Implement targeted intervention programmes to support reading, writing, numeracy, and social development.
  • Adapt class materials to suit learning styles and reinforce lesson content.
  • Collaborate closely with SENCo, teachers, and families to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
  • Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and behaviour, using positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Contribute to regular review meetings and write support notes where required.

Candidate Profile:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs.
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic personality.
  • A genuine interest in helping young people achieve their potential.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and SEND frameworks in education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
