Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School – High Peak

Salary: £89 - £95 per day

A friendly and inclusive secondary school in the High Peak area is looking for a nurturing and reliable Learning Support Assistant to join their SEN department. You will support a range of students across Year 7 to Year 11, many with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), in both classroom and small group settings.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide individualised support to pupils with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and speech/language difficulties.
- Implement targeted intervention programmes to support reading, writing, numeracy, and social development.
- Adapt class materials to suit learning styles and reinforce lesson content.
- Collaborate closely with SENCo, teachers, and families to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
- Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and behaviour, using positive reinforcement strategies.
- Contribute to regular review meetings and write support notes where required.
Candidate Profile:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs.
- Calm, patient, and empathetic personality.
- A genuine interest in helping young people achieve their potential.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and SEND frameworks in education.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
