SEN Teaching Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to join our team in North West England, specifically in Lancashire, Preston. This is a temporary position with the expectation of working full-time hours in the Education and Training industry.
  • Supporting students with special educational needs in their learning and development.
  • Assisting the class teacher in implementing individual education plans.
  • Providing one-on-one support to students as required.
  • Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Communicating effectively with parents, teachers, and other professionals.
  • A relevant teaching assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications.

Prior experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable.
  • Understanding of different learning styles and strategies to support SEN students.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced educational environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Additional training in specific areas of SEN support.
  • First Aid certification.

This role involves working full-time hours on a temporary basis, supporting students with special educational needs in a school setting. The working environment may vary but will primarily be within a classroom setting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
