An alternative provision in Leeds is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Sports Coach to join our team and positively impact the lives of children with special educational needs (SEN).

As a Sports Coach, you will be instrumental in supporting and engaging children with SEN through the medium of sports. Your role will involve promoting physical activity, teamwork, and overall well-being. You will need to build strong, trusting relationships with students, some of whom may exhibit challenging behaviours, to help them overcome learning barriers.
  • Develop and implement an inclusive sports programme tailored to the diverse needs of all students.
  • Engage children in various physical activities that enhance fitness, coordination, and social interaction.
  • Create a safe and encouraging environment where students feel valued and motivated to participate.
  • Collaborate with SEN staff and other educators to adapt activities to individual needs.
  • Establish strong, supportive relationships with students to understand their unique challenges and motivations.
  • Apply strategies to manage and positively redirect challenging behaviours.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress, adjusting plans as needed to ensure continued engagement and development.
  • Promote a positive attitude towards physical activity and its benefits for mental and physical health.
  • Proven experience as a Sports Coach, ideally within an educational setting.
  • A solid understanding of special educational needs and experience working with children with SEN.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
  • Competence in creating and adapting inclusive sports plans that cater to all students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to making a difference in children's lives.
  • Relevant coaching qualifications and certifications.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours with a calm and positive approach.
Additional Information:
  • All applicants must possess the relevant qualifications and training for this role.
  • All pay rates quoted include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with the potential for permanency in the future.
  • We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We will undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in line with DfE statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education,' which may include an online search as part of our due diligence.
  • We provide all registered candidates with FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must hold or be willing to obtain a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance will be provided.
