An opportunity has arisen to join our Liverpool Immunisation team to be part of the team you will play a vital role in the promotion and safe delivery of our school based vaccination programme.
Our ideal candidate has/is currently working with school age children as well as a customer facing environment and will be required to support other immunisations teams across the Merseycare footprint as and when required.
In this role you will be able to with the appropriate training and support deliver the nasal vaccine to children and support vaccination uptake across.
You will support engagement events to increase vaccine uptake and raise awareness of vaccinations.
You will also support with the storage, transportation and delivery of vaccines and equipment's e.g. collect and return vaccines to storage areas. and ensure disposal of used clinical equipment.
You will ensure you adhere to strict data and patient record confidentiality.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the immunisation team to promote immunisation as a key factor for maintaining the health and well-being of children and young people within a defined population. Service delivery will largely take place in schools however, following appropriate training and assessment, there will be an opportunity to work in individual homes, clinics.The post holder will play a pivotal role in ensuring the clinical input of data and demonstrate an ability to interpret the figures. They will assist in the cleansing of data to assist the immunisation team in the organisation and implementation of targeted offers to improve vaccine uptake figures.
The post holder will undertake duties that ensure the smooth running which underpin the service delivery from the Immunisation Team. This includes the organisation and management of resources (equipment, and stock) and providing appropriate clinical administrative support in base and at other locations as service needs dictates.
Ensure the delivery of the quality strategy within the designated area incorporating establishment of systems and processes.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Managerial- Be responsible for the management and prioritisation of clinical administration generated within own workload.
- Respond to changing situations and prioritise work accordingly within own workload.
- Maintain health records within own workload as per Mersey Care Record Keeping Policy.
- Mentor new team members and support students and other staff (at equivalent or lower band).
- Attend team meetings and other meetings as delegated by the team leader.
- Submit reports / audits / data collection and returns as required.
- Keep contemporaneous records.
- Ensure communication flow as per communication strategy.
- Following appropriate training and assessment participate in the vaccination of children receiving the Nasal Flu immunisation under the guidance of the immunisation nurse.
- Input clinical data into the clinical systems interpreting and identifying patterns in vaccine uptake to inform the V&I coordinator for future planning.
- Receive and report accurately and in a timely manner, clinical enquiries from families, schools and other agencies.
- Provide meaningful feedback to GP’s and other stakeholders about vaccine uptake amongst specific population groups.
- Support in the delivery of sessions at schools and other community settings.
- Participate as part of the team in Immunisation related Public Health work/ health promotion activities in schools and other settings.
- Maintain all immunisation records within workload as per Mersey Care Record Keeping Policy.
- Co-ordinate all relevant documentation in respect of school-based immunisation programmes including consent forms and re-call letter to absentees.
- Attend and provide effective support at immunisation sessions in schools, ensuring each child has a correct consent form and as directed by the Lead clinician.
- Upload appropriate data onto systems as required.
- Be responsible for the ordering of equipment and resources and arrange for the repair and maintenance of any equipment for the Immunisation team.
- Be responsible for the care and safe keeping of equipment issued for personal and team use and to report any defect or loss.
- Attend staff meetings and Continuous Professional Development Reviews (PDR).
- Access appropriate training as identified within PDR.
- Following appropriate training, have an awareness of Mersey Care Child Protection Policy and work within guidelines.
- Attend all mandatory training as per Mersey Care requirement.
- Ensure quality standards as per Mersey Care Record Keeping Policy in respect of record management and storage within own workload.
- Adhere to Mersey Care policies and procedures maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Contribute to the development and review of new administrative/IT systems within Mersey Care.
- Participate in recording and processing of immunisation statistics, e.g., Universal Childhood.
- Flu/Health Care Worker Flu Immunisation, to facilitate audit and evaluation.
- Contribute to the collection and maintenance of evidence for Care Quality Commission (CQC) outcomes.
- Work as part of a skill - mix team actively promoting vaccination uptake.
- Communicate with school staff and children to obtain up to date demographic details in respect of children and young people within own workload.
- Report any incidents of verbal, physical or threat of physical abuse to line manager.
- Be an advocate to children, young persons and adults encouraging them to make an informed choice about immunisation.
- Effectively liaise and communicate with other agencies involved with the client groups and their carers with reference to immunisation.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- Educated to GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English grades C and above, or equivalent workbased experience
- Experience of a range of IT packages including Microsoft
