An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Dermatology Team at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust for an NVQ fixed term placement. The successful candidate will be based at Rowan House. The post is 37.5 hours a week working Monday to Friday.

We are looking for a full-time NVQ Apprentice to join our busy Dermatology Team providing administrative support to the Dermatology Administration Team. This role will provide a unique opportunity to gain varied administration experience in a demanding yet stimulating and rewarding environment.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, reliable, well organised, take pride and ownership in your contribution, have excellent attention to detail.

The post is interesting and varied and requires an ability to work as a member of a team as well as using your own initiative. Applicants should have a mature and responsible attitude and be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.

Main duties of the job

To provide office management support to the Dermatology Team:

  • Requesting and Tracing Notes for filing.
  • General Filling within the Department.
  • Take appropriate actions with regard to telephone calls from patients, GPs and other agencies using initiative, in adherence to Trust guidelines.
  • Opening the post and distributing within the Department.
  • Distribution and tracing of notes to be sent to and received from coding.
  • Locating notes within the Department to trace and place in post for other Departments.
  • Daily collection of clinics from clinical areas, trace them in and store them alphabetically in the office.
  • Ensuring notes for forthcoming clinics are available and placed in trollies for clinic.
  • Transcribing of letters from Big Hand printing and filing in notes once approved.
  • General administration and support for the Medical Secretaries.
  • Providing support for Reception team.
  • Dealing with patients face to face on Reception or on the telephone.
  • Booking and prepping of Nurse Led clinics.
  • General administration and support for the Reception team.

The post holder will undertake any other duties commensurate with the role and grade for this post.
