Job overview
In order to support the Facilities Teams based at Sherwood Oaks Hospital we are looking to recruit to our Facilities Bank, working on a flexible basis on 'as and when' basis when shifts become available.
Based at Sherwood Oaks Hospital the Facilities Services Team aim to provide a high-quality service that enhances the environment of care for our patients.
Your primary base will be Sherwood Oaks, however multi-site work between sites maybe required.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
Main duties of the job
Facilities provides a wide range of non clinical support services to patients, staff and visitors. The services provided include Cleaning, Catering and Portering.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Cleaning duties on all wards, patient areas and off ward cleaning as required including, office areas and training venues.
Providing all catering services across the hospital site including all patient meals and for the staff restaurant. Ensuring All equipment, utensils, working surfaces and areas to be kept clean and tidy, using correct cleaning methods, equipment and chemicals.
Portering services includes delivering and collecting various items from around the hospital.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

Qualifications
Essential criteria- An understanding of cleanliness and good hygiene practices
- Recognised catering ,cleaning or support services qualification
Experience
Essential criteria- Able to carry out instructions and duties as detailed in the job description
- Experience or working within a catering, cleaning or portering environment
- Experience of working within healthcare environment which may include: a catering, cleaning or portering function
- Experience of working within a food safety management system (HACCP)
Skills
Essential criteria- Good communication skills
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to use own initiative to manage the requirements of the job
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
- A good understanding of customer service i.e caring, kind, able to hold a conversation with others
Physical Requirements
Essential criteria- Has the physical ability to perform the full range of duties
Training
Essential criteria- Ability to undertake all mandatory training as required by the individual site
- Ability to undertake any necessary skills and competency training required by the post
Knowledge
Essential criteria- Understanding of commitment to the Equality and Diversity principles

- Understanding of Infection Control
- Understanding of COSHH
