We’re currently undergoing recruitment for a Transport Planner to join our well-established client in the Welshpool area.

This is a full-time role with a choice of AM or Night shift.

AM:
  • Monday – Friday
  • 05:00 – 14:30
  • Occasional Saturdays: 07:00 – 10:00 (On a rota system)
  • £33,000 per annum
Nights:
  • Monday – Friday
  • Hours to be confirmed at interview stage
  • £38,000 per annum
Main roles and responsibilities:
  • Plan and optimise all deliveries to vehicles, ensuring KPIs are met while maximising efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the night shift warehouse team to meet operational deadlines. Ensure AM network processes, including scanning and checking inbound freight for discrepancies, are completed correctly.
  • Oversee vehicle loading to ensure timely departures as per operational schedules.
  • Brief drivers on their planned routes, ensuring they have all necessary documentation and EPOD/EDC to comply with network KPIs.
  • Conduct seamless handovers to the day/evening planners at the end of each shift to maintain workflow continuity.
  • Work closely with various departments to ensure smooth logistics operations while managing relationships with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
  • Utilise software tools such as Word and Outlook for documentation, communication, and compliance tracking.
  • Regularly assess transport routes and methods to identify areas for enhancement. Implement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer service within the transport function.
  • Maintain accurate records of transport activities, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations.
Experience & Skills Required:
  • Proven experience in transport planning or logistics is essential.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills to manage multiple operational aspects effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, fostering teamwork within a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with supply chain management principles and best practices is highly desirable.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on building strong professional relationships
