An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and dynamic Deputy Team Manager to join the South Oxfordshire Adult Mental Health Team (AMHT) within the Didcot locality.

This is a key leadership role within a well-established, multidisciplinary team that consists of both highly experienced and newly qualified professionals, all committed to delivering high-quality care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges in our local community.

Location: Didcot Locality, covering Abingdon, Didcot, Wantage & Faringdon, Wallingford, Henley, and Thame.

Main duties of the job

As Deputy Team Manager, you will provide clinical oversight and leadership to the team, working closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist (Clinical Lead) and Team Manager (Operational Lead). Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing day-to-day management and clinical supervision to staff.
  • Supporting the ongoing development and performance management of the team.
  • Undertaking clinical duties, including conducting assessments and managing a small caseload.
  • Acting as Duty Manager on occasion (full shadowing support will be provided for those new to this responsibility).
  • Deputising for the Team Manager as required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant Professional Qualification (RMN or Occupational Therapist).
  • To hold an advanced professional/clinical qualification (e.g. AMHP, CBT, DBT, NMP)
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification in management and leadership within a healthcare setting

Additional Skills

Essential criteria
  • To be able to use email, internet, word, spreadsheets and databases.
  • English verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Experience of providing leadership
  • Experience of working with Adults with acute mental illness
  • A specialist knowledge and clinical expertise in community mental health in line with professional requirements
Desirable criteria
  • To have experience in producing reports and presenting data.
