KS3 Teacher – Mixed Curriculum – SEMH Setting

(This role is based in Blandford Forum)

We are seeking a passionate and resilient KS3 Teacher to deliver a broad, mixed curriculum to students in a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people who require a nurturing, structured, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a varied curriculum (including core subjects such as English, Maths, and other foundation subjects) tailored to meet the individual needs of students with SEMH needs.
  • Create a supportive and engaging learning environment, using creative and flexible teaching strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.
  • Support students in developing both academic and emotional resilience, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Work closely with support staff, external agencies, and families to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Manage behaviour positively, using de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed practices.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or relevant teaching experience.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, SEN, or behavioural challenges.
  • Ability to teach a range of subjects and adapt teaching methods to suit individual learners.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong behaviour management skills.
  • A team player with a flexible and proactive approach.
  • DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
