We are looking for a skilled and motivated Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. We are a large and established team made up of SLT's across all bandings, SLTA's and an admin team.

We are committed to delivering evidence based, high quality and progressive services for our patients. To achieve this we aim to continuously develop and implement an innovative way of working within mainstream schools and clinics in Wandsworth.

You will have the opportunity to use and develop your skills to work collaboratively with a team of Speech and Language Therapists and education staff, advising on interventions that meet the needs of children/young people with a variety of speech, language and communication needs.

We have a number of active working parties within the team to ensure we are using an evidence based model of intervention including:

  • Neurodiversity
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Bilingualism
  • Developmental Language Disorders

We have a robust Personal Development Review process as well as Band 5 support group to help support you to work through your NQP competencies (if required).

There is band 5 peer supervision supported by a highly skills Band 7 therapist (or above) with the opportunity to learn about and practice standardised assessments and interventions appropriate for different communication needs.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Speech and Language Therapist to take up an exciting opportunity, which is split across our Mainstream Schools and Clinic teams.

You will have the opportunity to use and develop your skills to work collaboratively with a team of Specialist Speech and Language Therapists and education staff, delivering interventions that meet the needs of children/young people with a variety of speech, language, and communication needs.

You will need to:

  • Have a degree in Speech, Language and Communication Pathology and Therapy recognised by the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
  • Be a member of the Health Professionals Council and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Experience of working with children with speech, language and communication needs ages 2-16 years of age.
  • Understanding of the role of SLTs in community SLT.
  • Work as part of a multi-agency team
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work flexibly, under direction and independently where necessary.

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience at undergraduate/post graduate level in the assessment and intervention with children aged 0-16 years with a variety of speech, language and communication difficulties
  • Relevant experience at undergraduate/post graduate level in working with families and carers of children and / or education staff

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent
  • Health Professions Council – Licence to Practice
  • Registered Member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
Desirable criteria
  • RCSLT membership
  • Post grad training relevant to the client group

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to the client group
  • Knowledge of a range of standardised and functional assessment tools relevant to the client groups
  • Knowledge of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group eg. Adult Child Interaction, colourful semantics
