The Public Health and Wellbeing Team is seeking a dynamic and skilled Senior Public Health Analyst to join our mission to reduce inequalities and improve health outcomes and in our community.

About the Role:

You will lead the development of high-quality public health intelligence and analysis to support the team, colleagues across the council and our systemwide partners including the NHS. A critical aspect of the role is curating and promoting the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) for Reading, ensuring it remains a valuable resource that informs local priorities and service design.

As the Senior Public Health Analyst you will have significant experience in public health analysis, with deep knowledge of data sources and analytical methodologies.

You will have advanced skills in statistical analysis and data interpretation, be capable of handling complex datasets to effectively synthesise and present data and intelligence to various audiences.

Duties will include:

Producing high-quality public health data and intelligence using statistical methods and data visualization, including supporting the development of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA).
Providing expert advice on sourcing and interpreting public health data while ensuring compliance with Information Governance laws and policies.
Managing population health data, ensuring secure access, storage, processing, and analysis to inform evidence-based decisions.
Delivery of technical data products to support health improvement, reduce health inequalities, and guide systemwide commissioning and disease surveillance.

Collaboration with key partners, including the Council’s Performance and Intelligence team and West Berkshire’s Senior Public Health Analyst, under a shared Director of Public Health.
