The Apprentice Commis Chef role is pivotal for ensuring RBH F&B standards are met at all times. As a key member of the kitchen department, you will play a vital role in preparing and delivering dishes to our standards, contributing directly to the overall guest dining experience within our hotel.

Additionally, your efforts in maintaining consistency and efficiency in food preparation contribute to the overall profitability and success of our business.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes in accordance with RBH recipes and standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen workstations, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Learn and master basic culinary techniques under the guidance of senior kitchen team.
Support the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef and Head Chef in maintaining inventory levels and ordering supplies as needed.
Follow instructions and complete tasks assigned by senior kitchen staff in a timely and efficient manner.
Follow proper food handling procedures, including temperature monitoring, labelling, and storage, to ensure food safety and prevent contamination.
Embrace opportunities for learning and development, seeking feedback from mentors to enhance culinary skills.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in performing various kitchen duties as required.
Uphold RBH's commitment to excellence by consistently delivering dishes that meet quality standards and exceed guest expectations.
Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive and productive work environment, fostering teamwork and effective communication throughout the kitchen department.
Attend training sessions and workshops as required to enhance culinary skills and knowledge, staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
Be proactive in addressing any challenges or concerns related to food quality, service standards, or kitchen operations, escalating issues to senior management as needed.
Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic in all aspects of job performance, always representing RBH and the culinary team positively.

As an Apprentice you will be completing a level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship Standard

To become an apprentice, you must:

be 16 or over

not already be in full-time education

You can start an apprenticeship whether you’re starting your career, want a change or you're upskilling in your current job. You can have a previous qualification like a degree and still start an apprenticeship.

As an apprentice you’ll:

have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace
learn and train for a specific job
get paid and receive holiday leave
get hands-on experience in a real job
study for at least 20% of your working hours
complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship
be on a career path with lots of future potential
