Our multidisciplinary team supports people experiencing alcohol/drug use and co-occurring difficulties to receive high quality care.

We are looking for an HCPC registered Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to help us to develop our psychology and trauma -informed service. This post offers opportunities for flexible working. Part time hours would also be considered for the right candidate.

The post will be working across Nottinghamshire, but can be based at one of the 3 service hubs across the county (Worksop/Mansfield/Hucknall).

We know that many of the people we work with experience a combination of challenges in their lives (substance use, mental health issues, housing issues, criminal justice involvement, domestic abuse). We refer to this as Severe Multiple Disadvantage (SMD).

This post will be working alongside the SMD Team that specialise in Outreach, Housing sustainment, and comorbidity around mental health and substance use.

Nottinghamshire is taking a test and learn approach to look at how we can best support people accessing substance use services, where there is an additional housing need. CGL is committed to the MEAM approach (Making Every Adult Matter) in supporting those experiencing SMD.

This focusses on recognising the impact of trauma, appreciating and utilising those with lived experience, looking at where we as services can be more flexible, and identifying where the systems we work in need to be improved. It is an exciting time to join us, with recommendations for significant increases in psychology employment within substance use services over the next 5 years (The Independent Review on drugs, Dame Carol Black, July 2021).

Responsibilities

Our model emphasises physical, psychological, and emotional safety and helps people to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment in their lives and in their communities. As part of our team, you would have the freedom to work flexibly and creatively to establish what’s needed to have the most positive impact for people who use services.

You will help to develop the psychology service within the SMD teams, ensuring that psychological perspectives are central to everyone’s thinking. You will support the empowerment of teams and individuals to increase knowledge, skills, and professional confidence around the needs of the people who access our services.

Through consultancy, reflective practice, team formulation, training, and clinical case management, you will help the wider team create an innovative and effective trauma-informed service.

Our national Psychology Directorate provides connection, peer support, reflective practice and CPD relevant to psychology. You will also be part of a friendly and supportive local Nottinghamshire psychology team, including qualified psychologists, assistant psychologists and trainees.

Regular clinical supervision will be provided by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist within this team. If you’re a team player who shares our organisational values of being bold, compassionate, and open, this could be the role for you.

Our values are to be compassionate, open, and bold.

Does this sound like you? If so, please read the job description and person specification and we look forward to receiving your application soon.
