My client is seeking a dedicated Finance Assistant to join their team. This role involves a variety of financial tasks, from handling purchase orders to assisting with credit control and supporting month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will be an organised, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic environment.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Daily monitoring of all purchase orders, ensuring they are approved, distributed to suppliers, and matched to purchase invoices through Lightyear.
- Serve as the point of contact for procurement across the business, including monitoring.
- Manage purchasing and accounts inboxes to ensure all queries are actioned promptly.
- Produce weekly sales invoices and assist with credit control.
- Support month-end close for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) including statement reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end journals and quarterly VAT return preparation.
- Process bi-weekly payment runs, staff expenses, and credit card reconciliations.
- Provide support for customs bonded import/export administration.
- Participate in projects and perform other ad-hoc tasks as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a finance assistant role or similar.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, particularly Lightyear.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of VAT returns, credit control, and general accounting principles.
