We are seeking Education Support Workers to work with a diverse range of students with Special Educational Needs and Specific Learning Difficulties. The Additional Learning Support team at Buxton & Leek College are seeking and Education Support Workers to join their highly successful team across all campuses at the University of Derby, which include Kedleston Road & the iHub at Infinity Park.

About Role

The team provides a range of support for students across a varied curriculum from pre-entry to higher degree apprenticeships, who may have a wide range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities. The role will enable students to access the educational and personal development opportunities offered by the college, and support them with all their individual needs.

Your focus will be supporting learners alongside their educational journey meeting their diverse requirements, and also spend some time supporting learners in and out of class sessions, both online and in person.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team of Educational support workers, and an opportunity to support young people in all aspects of their learning and development.

This post is 30 hours per week during Monday - Friday 9am-5pm. This can be discussed further in interview with the hiring manager.

About You

You must be able to work well within a team and across-college departments and with the ability to work independently, when required. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of students as well as their parents or carers.

A pro-active and resourceful, learner-focused approach is required as you will be involved in creating individual support strategies, working collaboratively with curriculum-based colleagues and maintaining accurate records of interventions and progression.

Ideally you will be educated to at least Level 2 English & Maths and have already gained some experience supporting 16 to 19 year olds or adults with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities. You’ll have the full support of a dynamic team and opportunities to bring your ideas to the role.

Actual hours and days will be described in a ‘Schedule of Work’.
