Associate Assistant Headteacher (Personal Development) - Maidstone

Serenity School Maidstone is seeking an exceptional Associate Assistant Headteacher to lead our Personal Development strategy, shaping a culture where every pupil can grow in confidence, independence, and ambition.
Serenity School Maidstone is a mixed specialist day school, which provides a high-quality and inclusive education for up to 150 pupils aged 5-18 years, with an Education, Health and Care Plan and a diagnosis of autism and wider SEND. Our approach is therapeutic, holistic and pupil-centred.We pride ourselves on our nurturing environment, high expectations, and a curriculum that goes beyond the classroom to build life skills and resilience.
Applications are welcome from Primary and Secondary colleagues in SEND or inclusive mainstream schools. Experience of working with pupils who have Autism, Speech, Language, and Communication difficulties and/or Severe Learning Difficulties would be advantageous.
The Role
As Associate Assistant Headteacher (Personal Development), you will lead on the design and delivery of a comprehensive personal development programme, including:
- PSHE, RSE, SMSC, and careers education
- Pupil voice and leadership opportunities
- Behaviour and attitudes strategies
- Enrichment, extra-curricular, and community engagement
- Preparing pupils for adulthood
You will be a visible and inspiring leader, supporting the senior leadership team in promoting a whole-school ethos of care, aspiration, and personal growth.

- Has leadership experience within an SEN or inclusive setting
- Understands the challenges and triumphs of working with children with diverse and complex needs
- Is passionate about holistic education and developing the whole child
- Can inspire and develop staff through coaching, support, and collaboration
- Communicates effectively with pupils, staff, families, and external partners
- Has a clear vision for inclusive personal development provision
