Job overview

Evergreen is an 8 bedded general adolescent unit opened in February 2023.

The development of this service was done in conjunction with children, parents and carers who have experience of in-patient admission. Young people helped plan the ethos of the unit, recruit the staff and think about how we can deliver the best care.

The space provides specialist, short-term care for children and young people aged 13-17 with severe or complex mental health difficulties. You will be working alongside a diverse multi-disciplinary team that reflects the population that we serve.

Main duties of the job

This post will be based in Calnwood Court in Luton, Bedfordshire.

To co-ordinate and provide care and treatment to an identified group of patients without direct supervision.

To manage and organise work as required.

Take responsibility for the development and delivery of evidence based practice, ensuring that it supports and reflects service user individual needs, Trust objectives and professional guidance.

Contribute to the development of high-quality evidence-based in-patient services in a changing health care environment.

To practice within professional guidelines and promote professional practice in clinical area.

To ensure continuous personal development through the utilisation of regular supervision, annual appraisal and training where appropriate.

  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health) OR Registered Nurse (Learning Difficulty)

Experience

  • Working with people with mental health problems/ learning disabilities

  • Experience of providing individualized and culturally sensitive care

Knowledge and Skills

Our Community

We provide a wide range of community health and mental health inpatient services to children, young people, adults of working age, and older adults in The City of London, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Bedfordshire and Luton. We also provide psychological therapy services to the London Borough of Richmond, and provide Forensic services to the whole of North East London.

We provide services in urban and rural settings, sometimes in our inpatient units, but mostly in the community close to where people live. Integrated care is key in making the best use of resources and providing effective care.
