Summary of Duties:

The Community Engagement Worker will connect with disengaged and hard-to-reach communities by co-ordinating inclusive initiatives, workshops and activities. The role promotes participation and community development, contributing to the Town Council’s vision and ensuring efforts are effective and responsive to all residents' needs.

Duties:

  1. Implement targeted engagement strategies to connect with disengaged and hard-to-reach communities, focusing on groups such as the homeless, long-term unemployed, families with young children and ethnic minorities.
  2. Establish and maintain strong relationships with community members, leaders, organisations and service providers to collaborate on programs addressing issues such as employment, education, health and environmental concerns.
  3. Plan and manage community consultations, activities and workshops that encourage involvement, address specific needs and support active citizenship and social inclusion.
  4. Oversee and co-ordinate the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers for Council projects.
  5. Work with the Community Development Officer on delivery of projects approved by the Events & Community Development Committee.
  6. To support elected members with the delivery of Internal Ward Grant Applications.
  7. To support the Council’s member Champions to fulfil their roles.
  8. To create a Youth Council in Keighley to promote participation in the democratic process.
  9. To promote and actively seek applications to the Council’s Youth Grant Fund.
  10. Prepare and present detailed reports for consideration by the Events & Community Development Committee and where appropriate, other Committees and Full Council.
  11. Attend meetings of the Events & Community Development Committee and other Committees, including Full Council, as required.
  12. Work closely with Council Officers to boost engagement with hard-to-reach communities and increase their participation in Town Council events like “Play in Parks” and “Fun Days.”
  13. Contribute to the development and implementation of the Keighley Vision and other strategic initiatives.
  14. Undertake training and development activities relevant to the post.
  15. Work within Council budgets adhering to appropriate financial procedures.
  16. Work in conjunction with other colleagues to ensure the efficient running of the Council office and its associated services.
  17. Any other duties as may be reasonably required by your line manager.
Other Duties
  1. Respond to telephone and email queries from the public as well as visitors to the Civic Centre.
ii) All work is carried out to be compliant with the UK General Data Protection

Regulations (UKGDPR).

iii) The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that emails and information are

only kept where absolutely necessary or to comply with legal requirements.

iv) The post holder will ensure that confidentiality is not breached.
  1. The post holder will ensure they stay impartial on all Keighley Town Council matters.
Health and Safety
  1. The post holder will work to meet the requirements of the Health and Safety at
Work Act 1974, subsequent statute and Keighley Town Council’s Health and

Safety Policy and COSHH Regulations.

ii) The post holder shall be responsible for their own conduct and be aware that they

must not do anything that could cause accidents or endanger the lives of others.
