An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Band 5 nurses on 7D Paediatric Assessment and Short Stay Unit in the Royal London Children’s Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust.

There is a combination of one full time position and x2 fixed term maternity leave cover position available from July 2024 to September 2025.

PASSU is fast paced, with a varied patient profile, providing high quality nursing care for Babies, Children and Young People under different specialities including, General Paediatrics, Paediatric Oncology, Orthopaedics and General Paediatric Surgery.

The ethos of the unit is working in partnership with the children and their families.

The post holder will have every opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge, working closely with all multi-disciplinary team members. Staff are also encouraged and given the opportunity to continue their professional development through attendance on relevant courses with both City and Southbank Universities.

Barts Health has a busy and demanding Children's service requiring staff to be flexible in their working. The post holder will be required to work within a challenging clinical environment and undertake shift work which will include nights and weekends.

We are looking for a similarly enthusiastic children’s nurse who is passionate about the care of children and their families, as well as the well-being of colleagues and shares our vision for the future of the Childrens Hospital at the Royal London.

If you have experience as a band 5 children’s nurse and are looking for a new opportunity, we would like to hear from you.

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.

The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a fresh course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients.

Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time.

It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.

We strive to live by our WeCare values and are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment where staff treat one another with dignity and respect.

We aim to create an equitable working environment where every individual can fulfil their potential.

To provide effective family centred nursing care to patients and their families.

Ensure that evidence based practice is performed at all times, taking responsibility for updating own knowledge and skill in line with Trust policies and procedures and NMC code of professional conduct.

For newly qualified band 5 nurses, it will be an important step in consolidating practice and completing all relevant clinical competencies, receiving adequate support from colleagues.
