Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the orthopaedic, fracture & plastics clinic, for a Health Care Assistant to join our well established multidisciplinary team.

We constantly aim to provide a high standard of care, to a wide range of clients. You would therefore need to be motivated and focused, possess good communication skills, an ability to provide excellent care in a fast paced setting and basic IT skills.

Changes to the UK immigration policy introduced on the 9th of April 2025, increased the minimum salary threshold for certificates of sponsorship applications for Health and Care Worker Visa from £23,200 (£11.90 per hour) to £25,000 (£12.82 per hour). As per Agenda for Change, if you are new to the NHS (or have less than 2 years NHS experience at Band 3) your starting salary would be £24,625 (minimum Band 3 salary point from 1st April 2025 in line with National Living Wage requirements). This salary point is below the new minimum threshold, and therefore not eligible for sponsorship.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a team player, who is enthusiastic about their work, with a willingness to learn new skills.

You will support on a variety of clinics including face to face & virtual fracture clinics, elective orthopaedics, spinal and plastics clinics.

You will support patients with their journey through the department, and support the clinical staff to ensure their clinics run smoothly and efficiently. The role of the band 3 in clinic is both clinically patient focused and administrative in its nature.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship - or equivalent experience
  • Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
  • Care Certificate

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting
  • Experience of working within a team
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrates an interest or previous experience in supporting other health care staff and learners
  • Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Good communication (written and verbal skills)
  • Basic IT skills
  • Good organisational skills
