Clinical: Perform BSE standard echocardiography examinations and reports to ensure the provision of a high-quality advanced adult echo service. Ensure that personal knowledge is kept up to date and reflects current requirements in clinical echocardiography.
Contribute to the development of protocols and standards of care for patients undergoing echocardiography examinations. Undergo internal sign off in specialist echocardiography including stress, cardiopulmonary stress, bubbles, contrast, and transoesophageal echocardiography, and where required complete the necessary accreditation.
To lead on the development of, and adhere to, departmental protocols on relevant echocardiography procedures. Education, Teaching and Professional Development: Provide training, guidance and support for fellow echo physiologists, junior staff, and clinical fellows, and where required oversee and take professional responsibility for the trainees clinical work.
Assist with echocardiography education sessions throughout Cleveland Clinic London. Maintain own proficiency in echo and other technical skills by keeping up to date with current guidelines. Maintain BSE Echocardiography accreditation (or equivalent).
The post holder will be encouraged to work towards, and achieve, STP equivalence, maintain memberships and contribute to the work of professional bodies. Maintain continued professional development by ensuring mandatory training remains up to date and performance development reviews are completed.
With the support of CCL, prepared to work towards STP equivalence and clinical scientist registration. Research and Innovation: Contribute to the development of innovative practices within the department, such as advanced clinical practice. Participate in research projects where required - overseen by the Institute Lead.
Support research more widely by writing up interesting case studies / clinical abstracts with submission to appropriate journals. Management, Leadership and Professional: Manage personal workload and assist other members of staff where required.
Act as the person is charge of echo (as required), assisting with the smooth running of day-to-day operations within the department. Oversee an area, or lead a small team (i.e., quality assurance and audit, service improvement, and IT, machine, and infection control maintenance).
Adhere to infection control policies in the echocardiography department. Contribute to stock control, ordering and equipment maintenance. Promote a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care within CCL, ensuring a patient-centred approach to care.
General: The post holder has a general duty of care for the health, safety and wellbeing of work colleagues, visitors, and patients within the hospital in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act of 1974 and all other relevant legislation in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post.
The post holder will carry out their duties with due regard to the CCLs Human Resources Policy, Standing Financial Instructions, and other relevant Policies of the CCL. To observe the rules, policies, and procedures of Cleveland Clinic London.
